About Melinda
I crave light—the transforming light of Jesus. He breaks through barriers, breaks off bondages, heals, inspires, creates new life, and initiates patterns to sustain our souls. He exchanges ordinary for extraordinary!
Come and see . . .
Come meet a blessed, imperfect mom and feast with me at the King’s table of wisdom.
I am an author and wife to an amazing man. My husband and I have nine kids, eight boys and one girl. We homeschool. We own and run Silver Platter Chocolate Labs, a program that raises adorable purebred English labs.
My life is crazy busy. But somehow, in the craziness of my life, God shows up. I try to take time in His word to be transformed. Then, out of nowhere, while washing dishes or talking with my kids, I see Him. In a life story unfolding, or in a stumbling toddler, or watching one of our sons work patiently with our aging parents—He shows up.
The bittersweet of life compels me to let go of the curse and cling to the cross. To find our hope and joy in God. We hand Him our inadequacies and watch Him use us anyway.
For a long time, I called my website Immersing the Heart because that’s the air I breathe. Immersing myself and family and everyone I touch into the heart of Jesus.
What about you? What does your heart long for?
Inspire My “Yes” and Strengthen My “No”
God surprises me every day in how He chooses to answer this prayer.
Would you like to be carried by the Master, along with this broken vessel? Come see which of our flowers God grows as we let His living water drip onto the seeds He set out for us to soak.
If your desire is to draw young image bearers to serve the King with hearts that honor Him, let’s connect.
These images of broken vessels and flower seeds are part of a folk legend that speaks to my desire to embrace God through my weaknesses.
I’d like to retell it for you HERE.
2 Corinthians 12:9
“‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
How we embrace God through weakness:
We come to God just as we are. We don’t perfect ourselves and then come to Him. God takes us, broken and scarred. He pours oil on our wounds and shapes us into His likeness. We have a gracious and loving creator.
But I have come to embrace God through my weaknesses. And God’s grace is sufficient.
We have an amazing God. And we have each other.
Why go it alone?
